School conducts investigationBy Wendy LedbetterPublished Wednesday, July 19, 2006 in the Nevada County Picayune A Prescott School District official has confirmed that the investigation into alleged misconduct by a staff member is still underway. The name of the staff member has not been released, pending the outcome of the investigation. Prescott Superintendent Hyacinth Deon has confirmed that the investigation at this point is still in the hands of the district. Depending on whether the local investigation is found to have merit, the incident could be referred on to law enforcement for investigation. Deon cited the Fair Teacher Dismissal Act and said the appropriate steps are being taken regarding the alleged incident. Meanwhile, the faculty member involved is not currently under contract with the district. Deon said the person in question does not have a contract that calls for working summer months. There is no word as to whether the contract of this individual will be renewed as the district is hiring new teachers, faculty and staff over the next school board meetings.
