Prescott Head Coach Greg Smith said the Curley Wolves have some serious work ahead of them, but said he believes that theyll make a good showing. One of the biggest obstacles facing the team is the age, according to Smith.

Were going to be sophomore strong, Smith said recently as members of the senior high Curley Wolves team were joined by other athletes for speed training. Were going to have a lot of young players.

Smith said thats going to be something to get past, but said it wont be the death of the teams run for the playoffs.

We want a conference championship, Smith said.

He said this years team members have all faced difficulties in past years, and that none of the players have been part of incredibly successful seasons. Smith said this could be the year to see things change for the Wolves.

But we need to grow up.

Smith said there are 32 senior high players who are working out with the team every day. Summer training camp includes weight lifting, speed training, exercises and drills.

Hootens Arkansas Football magazine predicts that the Wolves will finish the season in second place, right behind the Gurdon Go-Devils.

Smith said he feels good about conference play, but said the non-conference play is about as tough as any around.

The season will officially kick off with a scrimmage game against the Arkadelphia Badgers at Prescott at the end of August.
