Two charged in thefts; drugs and theft on docket

Two Prescott men have been charged for their alleged role in thefts in the area. According to information on file at the Nevada County Circuit Clerks Office, William Eugene Cooper, 30, and Chris Eugene Cooper, 19, were arrested for their alleged actions on May 11.

William Cooper, with a listed address of 513 Greenlawn St., has been charged with breaking or entering, a class D felony, and theft by receiving, a class C felony. A separate charge of theft of property has also been filed against William Cooper, with the value of this property listed at $500 or less. This stolen property was reportedly obtained during a criminal episode, making it a Class D felony. Criminal trespass charges have also been filed against William Cooper.

In the case against Chris Cooper, authorities have also charged breaking or entering, theft of property, theft by receiving and criminal trespass. Court recorded information on the two charges remains sketchy and Nevada County Sheriff Steve Otwell could not be reached for comment on June 22 or 23.

The following is a list of felony cases that have been filed with the Nevada County Circuit Clerk during the month of June.

Wendell LeShawn Hayden, 25, 115 Hempstead 1040, Hope, has been charged with driving while intoxicated. Other charges stemming from the same incident include reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, refusal to submit to a chemical test and operating a vehicle without a license plate. Hayden was arraigned on the charges on May 20.

Stacy Harris, 20, 518 Bryant St., was arrested on May 26 for possession of cocaine with intent to deliver. The offense is a Class Y felony.

Bobby Lamar Will, 19, 518 Bryant St., has been charged with delivery of a controlled substance, cocaine, from an event that occurred on May 20. Other charges filed in this case include possession of cocaine with intent to deliver, theft by receiving of property valued at $500-2,500, and second-degree escape.

Christopher Dale Waid, 18, 365 Nevada 41, has been charged with residential burglary, a class B felony, and theft of property valued less than $500.

Virginia L. Mathis, 29, 211 West Olive St., has been charged with theft of property valued between $500-2,500 and criminal trespass. The offense date is listed in the court records as May 8 with an arrest date of May 18.

Clarence Raymond Cline Jr., 207 Nevada 242, was arrested on May 13 for terroristic threatening. The offense date is listed as May 13. Terroristic threatening is a class D felony.
