Buddy Miller

Published Wednesday, June 21, 2006 in the Nevada County Picayune

Mr. Buddy Miller, 61, of Cale, died Wednesday, June 14, 2006, at his home, after a short battle with lung cancer.

He was born on October 24, 1944, in Waldo, to Oscar and Frances Garrett Miller. Buddy moved to Cale in 1961 where he graduated from Cale High School and met and married his life long love Mary May Miller. Buddy was employed by Prescott Land and Timber Co. as a logging foreman for 29 years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Cale, and the founder of the Cale Hunting Club and a member of the Cale Volunteer Fire Department. Buddy was a simple man never asking for more than he needed. His name said so much, for if you knew him you had a buddy and if you just met him you would never forget him. He left an impression on everyone that knew him. Buddy enjoyed the outdoors, feeding deer and hogs, raising a garden for everyone in the neighborhood and just being outside. He loved to sing and eat sweets.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 38 years, Mary Miller of Cale; two sons, Kevin Bubba Miller and Corey Miller both of Cale; one daughter, Toni Marsh and Charles of Nacogdoches, Texas; one brother, John Miller of Waldo; three sisters, Dorothy Prive and Francell Lowe, both of Haynesville, La., and Lillian Birdwell of Jackson, Miss.; four grandchildren, Alex Marsh and Cameron Marsh, both of Nacogdoches, Texas, and Lindsey and Dalton Miller, both of Cale; a host of relatives and more friends than can be counted.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, June 16, at Morris Baptist Church in Caney, with Rev. Dennis Cole officiating. Burial was in Caney Cemetery in Caney. Arrangements were by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

Family received friends Thursday, June 15, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Nevada County Hospice, 1501 West First st. North, Prescott, AR, 71857.
