The polling places for the Tuesday, June 13, runoff election will be the same as usual in Clark County "because there is not enough time to consolidate them."

Rhonda Cole, Clark County Clerk, said May 31 voters will be deciding on five runoff races on June 13.

"Voters can just go to their normal places. We have a Justice of the Peace election in District 11, Whelen Springs/Curtis areas, and a State Representative race in District 23, the Amity/Alpine area.

"The other three elections are on the state level."

As for Gurdon, District 11 includes: Beirne, Whelen Springs, Kansas Road, Smithton and north of Curtis.

Candidates in the District 11 runoff race are Mike Leamons and Doug Cole.

In the democratic primary election, held May 23, Leamons had 173 votes to Coles 142. The third candidate, Samuel Horton Sr. of Curtis had 106 votes. Horton is no longer on the ballot for the upcoming June 13 runoff election.

In the May 23 primary, Leamons had 64 votes from South County and Whelen Springs, while Cole had 13 and Horton had seven.

Cole, who lives at Richwood, close to Gum Springs, had 56 votes from the Gum Springs outside.

Leamons had 40 votes from Gum Springs outside, while defeated challenger Horton had 15.

As to Gum Springs inside, Leamons had 11, Cole had eight and Horton had 27.

In Curtis, Leamons had 33, Cole had 25 and Horton had 40.

The only votes cast for the District 11 race in Gurdon, during the May 23 primary, were four for Leamons from Gurdon Ward 1 and two for Leamons from Gurdon Ward 2.

The District 23 State Representative race is now between Randy Stewart and Cleta Cooper.

District 23 covers six counties, including the Amnity andAlpine area in Clark County.

Cole said Stewart, who had 81 Clark County votes in the May 23 primary election, came within seven votes of defeating his opponent in the six counties overall. Cooper had 29 votes in Clark County.

The third state representative candidate was defeated in the six county area but Darson Daniels had 182 votes in Clark County. Daniels will not be on the June 13 runoff ballot.

The three state races to be decided will be between Bill Halson and Senator Tim Wooldridge for Lieutenant Governor; City Attorney Paul Suskie and Representative Dustin McDaniel for Attorney General; and Martha Shoffner and Mac Campbell for State Treasurer.
