Florence Hughes

Florence G. Hughes, age 82, of Malvern, passed away on May 8, 2006, at the Twin Rivers Health and Rehabilitation Facility in Arkadelphia.

She was born in the Antioch community on Oct. 8, 1923, the daughter of Mark and Lille (Thornton) Davis.

She was a telephone operator, a homemaker, and a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Leonard Hughes, an infant son, Doyce Leonard Hughes, a grandson, Darren Hughes, an infant sister, Fern Davis, and sister, Lynas Hollomon.

Florence is survived by her son, Derrell Hughes and his wife, Becky of Malvern; daughter, Beverly Sanford and husband Mark of Arkadelphia; a step-sister, Emma Jewel Efird, who passed away on May 9; four grandchildren, Angela Boyette, Danny Hughes and his wife, Susan, all of Malvern, Kayla and Jordan Sanford of Arkadelphia; four great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Boyette, Colby Hughes and Sarah and Dakota Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was from 6 until 9 p.m. on Wednesday, May 10, at Regency Funeral Home.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 11, at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Brothers Wesley Howard and Ron Ballard officiating. Interment was to follow at Prairie Bayou Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Murl Jordan, harry Ritter, Melvin Beason, Billy Cordell, Mailon Williams, Earl Walker, Garvis Hughes and Jim Gordon.

Honorary pallbearers are Floyd Keisler, Ronnie Collie, Thomas Crumby, Dr. Ray Bollen, the staff of Twin Rivers Rehabilitations Facility and the Mt. Zion Ladies Auxiliary.

Memorials may be made to Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church or the Prairie Boyou Cemetery Fund.

The family will be at the home of Derrell and Becky Hughes, 3946 Roundtree Road in Malvern.

Arrangements are by Regency Funeral Home of Malvern.
