Howard BatchelorPublished Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in the Gurdon TimesWm. Howard Batchelor, 79, of Gurdon, died Friday, May 12, 2006 at his home in Gurdon. He was a retired Conductor for Union Pacific Railroad, a member of the First Christian Church of Gurdon and a US Navy veteran serving in the Pacific Theatre on the USS Deuel. Born in Poyen, to Willie and Vinnie Prince Batchelor on March 19, 1927. The family wishes to extend to Dr. Stephen Snyder and Staff, to Dr. Greg Bienvenu and Staff and to Dr. Emilio Tirado a heart felt token of appreciation for the care they gave. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Kathleen and grandson, Adam King. Survivors include, three daughters, Vivian Overbey (Tommy), Diana Stroud (Happy) and Nancy Batchelor, all of Gurdon; three sisters, Janie Wilson of Bismarck, Grace Martin and Ruby Carter, both of Malvern; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Graveside services were 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2006 at Rose Hill Cemetery (Gurdon) by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon. E-mail condolences to hornefuneralhome@sbcglobal.net.
