Band members award each other

The east and the west met on Tuesday night, as the Gurdon High School Band had its awards night and ate Chinese food.

Band Director Allen Wimberly thanked the students for working so hard this year and the Band Boosters for all of their support.

The students gave out the following awards to band members: Zach Martin, most friendly guy; LaDonna Lusker, most friendly girl; most loquacious, LaDonna Lusker; Ryan Gosney, biggest guy flirt; Hanna Prince, biggest girl flirt; LaDonna Lusker, most likely to be president of the USA; Christina Hopson, best woodwind; Brandon Smith, best brass; Vashti Gutierrez, best percussion; Brandon Smith and Brannie Weems, best marchers; Amber Dempsey, best leader; Christian Hopson, best sight reader; Summer Loy, most organized; Kyle Rogers, most improved; and Codie Golden, outstanding rookie.

Brandon Smith also received the John Phillips Sousa award for his trombone playing.
