Ross Carter has 95th birthday partyBy John NelsonPublished Wednesday, May 17, 2006 in the Gurdon Times Ross Carter, a World War II veteran and life-long fixture in Gurdon, was surprised by Beech Street Baptist Church members and guests on Sunday, May 7, when more than 100 well-wishers gave him a 95th birthday party. The party included gifts and food. Carter, who said Tuesday he actually turned 95 on Monday, May 8, was full of his usual laughter at the Senior Adult Center. "I was very happy about the party," Carter said. "I have gone to Beech Street Baptist Church for more than 40 years." Carter said he grew up in the Southfork area, just outside of Gurdon. He never married. "I never took a wife," he said. "I may be still looking." Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
