James Delane "Stick" McMichaelPublished Wednesday, May 3, 2006 in the Gurdon TimesGraveside services and interment for James Delane McMichael, 65, of Lufkin, Texas were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 26, 2006. The services were in Bluff City, Arkansas at the Bluff City Cemetery with A.H. Cranford of Lufkin officiating. Delane was born on August 15, 1940, in Chidester, Arkansas, to the late James Albert and Emma Jean Pardue McMichael. He passed away on Friday, April 21, 2006 in the home of his sister, after a lengthy battle with lung cancer. He was a member of the Beech Street Baptist Church in Gurdon. Survivors include his son, James Curtis McMichael of Camden; grandson, James Tyler McMichael of Jacksonville, Florida; a sister and brother-in-law, Elaine and Carroll Spradlin of Pollok, Texas; brother and sister-in-law, Carl Edward and Linda McMichael and brother, Donald Wayne McMichael, all of Gurdon; and many loving nieces and nephews. Services were entrusted to Proctor Funeral Home in Camden. Memorial donations may be made to A Pineywoods Hospice Inc., 103 B Carriage Drive, Lufkin, Texas 75904.
