As of May 1, the city will be moved over to AECC electric service. That was the message presented to the Prescott City Council during the regular March meeting.

Theres good news and bad news, said consultant Henry Thompson who has been working with the city to resolve the issues of electric service. The bad news is that you may not get to see as much of me.

Thompsons statement was greeted with laughter, but Prescott Mayor Frank Taylor said that theres no doubt Thompson had opened doors that might otherwise have remained closed as the city sought to resolve the issue.

Im thoroughly convinced that we would have really been in trouble without Henry, Taylor said. He cited Thompsons contacts on the federal level as being beneficial. I certainly appreciate Henry and all hes done for us.

The city has been operating under a gap contract as negotiations for a new contract for provision of electricity to the city have dragged on for several months. That issue is now resolved. Both Taylor and Thompson said AECC - the company that will now be providing service to residents of the city - expect no problems when the change officially occurs. AECCs equipment has already been installed.

Its all in place, Thompson said. There may be a little something they still need to do, but itll be a minimum amount.

Thompson said those minor adjustments shouldnt create any problems with regard to providing service.
