Top ten seniors announcedPublished Wednesday, April 19, 2006 in the Gurdon TimesThe principal of Gurdon High School, Leonard Gills, announces the top ten academic seniors of 2006. The Valedictorian for the class of 2006 is Kiesha Bates. Bates is the daughter of George and Ronda Bates of Gurdon. She has received the Presidential Scholarship from Henderson State University. This fall Bates will begin working towards a Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene. The Salutatorian is Sean OConnell, the son of Willis and Nina OConnell of Gurdon. OConnell is planning to attend Henderson State University where he is the recipient of The University Scholarship. OConnell will begin working towards a Bachelors degree in Business Administration with an emphasis on financing. The remaining top ten students for the class of 2006 are: Tiffany Nolan who has received The University Scholarship from Henderson State University. Cody Miller is planning to attend Henderson State University where he has received The University Scholarship. Jason Wells received the Ouachita Grant Scholarship and The Red River Baptist Associational Scholarship and will be attending Ouachita Baptist University. Jodie Swayze will be attending Henderson State University where she has received The University Scholarship. Daniel Stroder will be attending Henderson State University this fall. Ashley Floyd has qualified for The University Scholarship and will be attending Henderson State University. Destiny Talley is planning to attend University of Louisiana at Monroe where she has received an Academic and Cheerleading Scholarship.
