Trade Days Planned

Do you think you have what it takes to be a successful trader? Do you amaze your friends because you find the best bargains? Do you always get more than anyone thought you could for the stuff from the attic? If you like anything to do with trading, buying, selling or even garage sales, Nevada County Trade Days is for you.

Donnie Crain, director of the Prescott Nevada County Economic Development Office, said the idea is to attract quality vendors to a monthly event during the warmer months of the year, and to make Trade Days a recognized marketplace in a four-state area. Toward that end, the EDO and Prescott Nevada County Chamber of Commerce are teaming up to get the word out about this event.

The plan is to hold Trade Days beginning May 13, and to have the marketplace set up on the second Saturday of every month thereafter. Crain recently told members of the Nevada County Quorum Court that he hopes to attract quality vendors that will find it profitable to return on a regular basis, and that those vendors will attract lots of people to Prescott. In an effort to give the event a trial run, the cost of the vendors spots will be waived for this first session, Crain said. This applies to any vendors who have pre-registered by May 5. After that, a 10-foot square booth space will be $15. Crain noted that any vendors requesting more than a single space for the first Trade Days event will be asked to pay $15 for additional spaces.

Like most events of this type, vendors are required to provide their own tables, chairs and any equipment required.

While the vendors are expected to draw in a large crowd, the fun of Trade Days wont stop there. Area merchants are being encouraged to set up promotional sales to coincide with the event. Sidewalk sales are reportedly being planned around town along with some other specials as local businesses hope to take advantage of the additional traffic around town.

For those who love garage sales or anyone who has been trying to plan a sale of their own, Trade Days will be an excellent opportunity. Crain said a community garage sale is being set up in the open area near Sexton Foods. Theres no cost to participate and no fees for setting up your sale items, but you do need to register with the EDO. Again, spaces will be assigned but participants need to provide their own tables and chairs.

If you want to get in on Trade Days as a vendor or you want to set up as part of the community garage sale at the field near Sexton Foods, contact Crain at 887-6208 or via email at dcrain@iocc.com.
