State Works Accident

A two-vehicle accident in Rosston sent several people to the Medical Park Hospital in Hope Monday, April 10. According to information from the Nevada County Sheriffs Office, sheriffs deputies responded to the call then turned the accident scene over to Arkansas State Trooper Keith Teague.

A report on file with the State Police indicates that Mariam Ruiz of DeQueen was traveling east on Highway 278 when she struck the rear of another east bound vehicle driven by Shiheta Henry of Rosston. Ruiz was driving a 2000 Ford F 150 pickup and Henry was driving a 2003 Honda Accord, according to the report.

When Henry slowed to make a left turn, Ruiz struck the Henry vehicle, sending the Honda Accord into a spin that ended when the Henry vehicle struck an embankment. The Ruiz pickup then traveled across the oncoming lane and into the opposite ditch where it came to rest in the yard of a residence.

According to information from the State Police, both Ruiz and Henry were taken to the hospital by ambulance. There were two passengers in the Henry vehicle. There was no indication in the report as to the status of those two, or whether they were also taken to the hospital.
