Herbert GentryPublished Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in the Nevada County PicayuneHerbert C. Gentry, 79, of Mt. Morris, Mich., formerly of Antoine, was called home by the Lord on Monday, March 27, 2006 at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Mich. He was born on September 2, 1926 in Antoine to Richard and Caldonnia Gentry. He was retired from Bick, a Division of General Motors Corporation, in 1991 after 39 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. Local 599 and lifetime member of the NAAcP. He was an avid fisherman, gardener and he took particular interest in feeding the birds, but not he squirrels or the crows! He was a devoted member of the Male Chorus at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church as well as a member of the church. Her survivors include: his wife of 59 years, Bobbie Gentry of Mt. Morris, Mich.; two sons, Billy and Eric Gentry both of Flint, Mich.; four daughters, Bobie Rison and Shirley Gentry-Oden both of Flint, Mich., Esther Gentry-Thompson of Grand Blanc, Mich., and Kim Etheridge and Jimmy of Mt. Morris, Mich.; one brother, Henry Gentry of Ark.; one sister, Etta R. Jones of Seattle, Wash.; one sister-in-law, Linnell Jones and Noble of Ark.; ten grandchildren, Monica Mitchell and Shawn of Georgia, Gerald Brown and Shalisa of Florida, Yvette, Shanette, Herbert, and Gionna Gentry and Aleisha Oden all of Flint, Mich., Erick Gentry of Florida, Darias Thompson of Grand Blanc, and Marcus Etheridge of Mt. Morris, Mich.; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Harrison Chapel Baptit Church, 2848 Highway 26 East, Delight, Ark., 71940, with Rev. Lewis Jones officiating. Burial was in Harrison Chapel Cemetery in Antoine, Ark. Burial followed. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
