Van MalcolmPublished Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in the Nevada County PicayuneVan A. Malcom, 93, of Okolona, died Monday, March 27, 2006, at the Baptist Medical Center in Arkadelphia. He was born Feb. 14, 1913, in Okolona the son of the late Charlie and Irene Buchannon Malcom. He was a retired rural letter carrier, a farmer and a member of the Gurdon Masonic Lodge #187 for more than 50 years. He was a deacon and member of the Okolona Baptist Church for more than 50 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, Vesta Roberson Malcom. Survivors include two sons, Jerry Malcom and wife Wilma of Okolona, and Joe Malcom and wife Barbara of Mt. Juliet, Tenn.; one daughter, Judy and her husband Wayne McCauley of Okolona; one sister, Ester Marie Worthan of Blevins; nine grandchildren, Kent and Anita Malcom, Tina Rowe, Alan and Rhonda Deaton, Rick and Teresa McCauley, Gary and Charlotte McCauley, and Vanna and Steve Eddington, LeAnne and Chris Mitchell, Shawn Sullivan, Michael and Jennifer Malcom; eighteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in the Okolona Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Jones and Rev. Charlie Williams officiating. Interment will be in the Okolona Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
