Ledbetter joins staffPublished Wednesday, April 5, 2006 in the Nevada County PicayuneLedbetter named Editor Wendy Ledbetter has taken over the editors position at the Nevada County Picayune, effective this week. Former editor John Miller left the Picayune as of March 31. Miller will become the new editor at Nashville. Ledbetter has worked with several publications in Arkansas, including the Arkadelphia Siftings Herald, The Gurdon Times and The Camden News. She has spent more than a decade in the newsroom and in the freelance writing market. Im excited to be here, she said. John (Miller) has really made the transition as easy as possible, and I appreciate that. I know its going to take some time to get to know everyone, but Im looking forward to the process. For the past two years, Ledbetter has worked almost exclusively in the freelance market creating web content for website developers. She has also had several magazine articles published and worked in 2004 as an editor for Family History Magazine, a publication devoted to helping individuals research their family origins. While the look of the Picayune will remain largely the same as it was under the former editor, there are bound to be at least some changes, according to Ledbetter. It has nothing to do with whats right or wrong and everything to do with style and focus. Even editors are people and my personality will likely become evident over the coming weeks, just as Johns has been evident in the past. The change in staff will not impact current standings of stories, articles or deadlines. Anyone who has turned in articles on a regular basis in the past is invited to continue to do so. Comments, questions and suggestions are always welcome and may be sent via phone, email or personal visits to the Picayune office. Ledbetter will also be involved in The Gurdon Times. Ledbetter is a native of Gurdon. She is the daughter of the late Raymond and Betty Wells Ledbetter. She has two daughters, Leslie Baumgardner of Okolona and Hollie Trollinger of Lincoln. She has two grandchildren, Jay and Ruby, both of Lincoln. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
