James Collier JrPublished Wednesday, March 22, 2006 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. James Aubrey Collier, Jr., 84, of Hope, passed away on Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Christus-Schumpert Grace Home/Hospice in Shreveport, La. He was born on February 16, 1922, in Hempstead County, to Jessie Aubrey J.A. and Lillie Henry Collier. He was a former owner/operator of Collier Floor Covering Co. in Hope. He was a member of the Hope Church of Christ; an Army veteran of World War II having received a Bronze Star while serving in China; and also a member of the Hope VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lois McDowell Collier; one brother, Harrell Bud Collier; and one sister, Kathleen Delony. His survivors include: one son, Terry Collier and Denise of Mena; one daughter, Cynthia Rowe of Bryant; three sisters, Pat Rhodes of Hope, Lillie Mae Erwin o Searcy and Gladys Stone of College Station, Texas; one sister-in-law, Odelle Collier of Hope; three grandchildren, Teena Elrod of Texarkana, Kevin Rowe of Texarkana, Texas, and Roger McLelland of Fayetteville; four great-grandchildren, Hunter Elrod, Ashtyn McLelland, Hayle and Baylor Harris. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope with Larry Culbreath and Harley Sisson officiating. Burial was in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Hope. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Family received friends Friday, March 17, 2006, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Home/Hospice, c/o Christus Schumpert, #1 Saint Mary Place, Shreveport, La. 71101-9950.
