Varrie Young

Mrs. Varrie Young, 89, of Prescott, died Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Hearthstone Assisted Living Care, Irving, Texas.

She was born on June 28, 1917, in Blevins to Clem and Ellen Maxwell Harris. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church, Prescott.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Marvin Smith; her second husband, Otis Young; and one daughter, Darlene Smith James Green.

Her survivors include: three sons, Odell Young of Lexington, Texas, Darnell Young of Dallas, Texas and Benny Ray Young of Fredericksburg, Va.; four daughters, Nannie Mae Smith Williams, Hattie Marie Young and Annette Young, all of Kansas City, Mo., and Lois Jean Young Elmore of Dallas; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church in Prescott, with Rev. Joe Frank King. Burial followed in the Shorter Chapel Cemetery in Blevins. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.

A wake was held Saturday, March 15, 2006, from 11-12 at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
