Leonard BlackPublished Wednesday, March 22, 2006 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Leonard J. Black, 75, of Willisville, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2006, at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. Mr. Black was born April 12, 1932, in Chickasha, Okla., to the late John Willie and Ruby Fay (Leonard) Black. He was a 32-year resident of Willisville. He was employed with Lovington, New Mexico Public Schools for 15 years, and was later associated with Warmack Limited Partnership. Mr. Black received a Bachelors degree from Southwestern Oklahoma University and received a Masters degree from Eastern New Mexico University. He served as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Lions Club International and was named Lovington Lion of the year in 1972 and 1973. He was also elected to the Willisville City Council, and served as a board member of both the Nevada County Hospital, and the Southeastern Arkansas Symphony. He is survived by his wife, Mary Faye Warmack Black of Willisville; daughters, Sally Malone of Pocahontas; brother, Merlin Black and sister-in-law Elaine Black of Hutchinson, Minn.; granddaughter, Rachel Anne Malone of Jackson, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were Saturday, March 18, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Lewis Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jerry Westmoreland officiating. Burial was at Willisville Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home of Magnolia. Family visitation was Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
