Billy Joe BlantonPublished Wednesday, March 22, 2006 in the Gurdon TimesBilly Joe Blanton, 70, of Gurdon, died on Saturday, Mrach 11, 2006. Joe was a retired, self-employed auto repair mechanic and an operator of several gas stations, a member of the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon, a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War, working in crash rescue, and a member of Gurdons Greenhouse Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous. The Friendly Mens Bible Class were to serve as honorary pallbearers. Joe is survived by his devoted wife, Elizabeth "Dodie" Blanton of Gurdon; a son, Martin Jeffrey Blanton and wife Kelly, of Gurdon; a brother, Harry Blanton Jr. of Benton; a sister, Emmy Butler and husband Russell, of Gurdon; and three grandchildren, Maci, Emily and Alyssa Blanton, all of Gurdon. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church in Gurdon, with interment in Center Ridge Cemetery by Horne Funeral Home of Gurdon.
