Those who havent purchased tickets to the annual Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce need to do so quickly.

Tickets are going fast. The theme for this years banquet is Stepping Out in the 70s. This year the banquet will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 21, at McRae Middle Schools cafetorium.

Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber, said there will be no speaker this year, and the musical entertainment will be provided by local performers. The entertainers will perform a medley of about eight tunes popular during the 70s.

There will be a contest for the grooviest 70s outfit for both men and women, with the winner getting a prize. In addition, there will be a trivia contest based on movies and television shows from the 1970s. This will be inserted in the programs to be dropped at the door. The winner of this contest will get $25 in Prescott Bucks.

The banquet will also feature the announcing of several awards. These awards include Citizen of the Year, Treasure of Gold, Business Leader of the Year, Past President Award, Farm Family of the Year, Teacher of the Year for the three area schools, and Student of the Year for the three schools.

The banquet will begin with its annual benefit auction. The funds from the auction help fund Chamber activities throughout the rest of the year. Godwin said auction items are being collected now. Some of the items collected include several large floral arrangements, tools, fire ant control from PSE, gift certificates for local restaurants and gasoline, lamps, hair care products, turtles from Mama Maxs Diner, flywheel pies, a lift chair from Hollys Health Mart, a Remington model 870 12-gauge shotgun donated by Congressman Mike Ross, a search light, DVD player, Curley Wolf afghan and purse, and other items.

The menu for the banquet will be chicken fried steak, green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy, tossed salad, homemade rolls and chocolate wacky cake.

Tickets to the banquet are $15 each and can be purchased by calling the Chamber at 887-2101.
