Denton CalhounPublished Wednesday, March 1, 2006 in the Nevada County PicayuneDenton Deece Calhoun, born September 15, 1928, in Bluff Springs, to W.O. and Verna (Stokes) Calhoun, went to his eternal home on February 25, 2006. He was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Bryant where he lived for the past 35 years. He was a retired truck driver for Arkansas Best Freight after 28 years of service, where he has a host of lifelong friends. He was also a member of Teamsters Union Local #878. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Clara (Lambert) Calhoun and brother, William Autry Calhoun. He is survived by his wife Maxine (Gogle) Clahoun; three brothers, Delton Calhoun of Little Rock, Terrell Calhoun of Camden and Galyn Calhoun of Hope; sons, Dennis (Liz) Calhoun of Benton and Dennis (Judy) Bradford of Bryant; daughters, Shandra (Eual) Tipton of Bigelow, Shelia (Bobby) Williams of England and Sheri (Steven) David of Keo; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, family and friends. Services were held at Shackelford Funeral Home in Prescott at 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, with visitation being Monday evening from 5-7 p.m. Burial was in Harmony Cemetery by Shackelford Funeral Home. The family received friends at his home, 1103 Woodland Park Road in Bryant. The family would like to give a special thanks to Benton Family Clinic and all his medical caregivers. Tony Hatfield Mr. Tony Hatfield, 59, of Blevins, died Friday, February 24, 2006, at his home. He was born on August 25, 1946, in Osceola to Charles and Mary Doris Hatfield. He was a truck driver for Bruce Oakley Trucking Company. He was a member of the Blevins Volunteer Fire Department and Blevins Hunting Club. He was preceded in death by his father; his step-father, Walter Gray Emery; two brothers and by one sister. His survivors include: his wife, Ida Henson Hatfield of Blevins; one son, Paul Jackson and Pam of Cabot; three daughters, Terry Murphy and Robert of Newport, Gail Whitelaw and Carl of Saline, Mich., and Debbie Jackson of Blevins; his mother, Mary Doris Emery of Bradford; three brothers, Benji Emery of Newark, Harold Emery of Searcy, and Walter Tine Emery of Bradford; three sisters, Daphine Halliburton of Newport, Joanna Ervin of Yucipa, Calif., and Ada Emery of Tuckerman; 12 grandchildren; several very special great-grandchildren; 17 nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2006, at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home Chapel in Hope, with Rev. Jimmy Teeter officiating. Burial followed in Sweet Home Cemetery in Blevins. Arrangements by Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Hope. Family received friends Sunday, February 26, 2006, from 3-6 p.m. at Brazzel/Oakcrest Funeral Home in Prescott.
