Leonard Wesson

Leonard M. Wesson, 85, of Vienna, Ill., formerly of Prescott, died Tuesday morning, January 31, 2006, at 2:19 a.m. at the Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Ill.

He was born June 5, 1920, in Chidester. He was the son of William Albert W.A. Wesson and Susie (Butler) Wesson.

Leonard was united in marriage to Betty Jones on November 24, 1980, in Phoenix, Ariz.

Survivors include: his wife, Betty Wesson of Vienna, Ill.; four sons, Leonard E. Wesson of Phoenix, William P. Wesson of Arkadelphia, Harrell Wesson of Phoenix, and Jim Wesson of Napa, Calif.; two stepsons, Arthur R. Walle of Kalispell, Montana and Terrill K. Walle of Simpson, Ill.; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and one brother, Louie Wesson of Prescott.

Preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jewell (Farr) Fitzgerald and three brothers, Warner Wesson, Wilburn Wesson and Garland Wesson.

Leonard was a U.S. Army Veteran. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operation during World War II. He was a self employed automotive mechanic. He was of the Pentecostal faith. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, February 4, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna. Pastor Harold Canup, Jr. officiated. Burial was in the Vienna Fraternal Cemetery. Military rites were accorded.

Family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the Bailey Funeral Home.
