Its time once again for the annual Chicken and Egg T-shirt design contest.

The Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce is currently accepting design entries for the 19th annual festival.

Entries may have up to three colors and must be eight inches by 10 inches in size. The judging committee can reject any entries. The winning entry will receive a $25 cash prize. The design must include 2006, Prescott, Arkansas, The 19th Annual Chicken and Egg Festival.

The deadline to submit entries is Jan. 31, at the Chamber office.

The Chamber will decide the color of T-shirt after the winning design is picked. The shirts will be worn at the Chicken and Egg Festival the first weekend in June.

For more information about the contest, call the Chamber at 887-2101.

And, nominations are being sought for Citizen of the Year for the annual Chamber Banquet.

Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber, said the banquet will be held in March this year, but no firm date has been set. The theme will be Stepping out in the 70s. Patrons are encouraged to come dressed in 70s attire.

Any county resident can submit a letter of nomination for Citizen of the Year. The nominee must also be a county resident.

The reason for nomination must be in writing. All nominations will be judged based on the nominees outstanding service in the following areas: to family, to the city, to the county, to the state, national affairs, church related activities, fraternal organizations, recreational activities and industrial and education oriented services.

The selection committee will judge the content of the letters, not the number of letters submitted for an individual. The deadline to submit a nomination for Citizen of the Year is Feb. 17.

In addition, Godwin said, the Active for Life program will kick off at noon Thursday at the Nevada County Health Unit. At this time ground will be broken for the walking/jogging trail.
