Virgil Nichols

GURDON  Virgil Willis Nichols Sr., 88, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at Twin Rivers Health & Rehabilitation Center in Arkadelphia.

Virgil was born Aug. 19, 1917, in Ouachita County, the son of the late William Bill and Dovie Woodell Nichols. He was retired from Cabe Lumber Co. and International Paper Co. at Beirne. Virgil was also an ordained minister with the Church of God.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jean Floyd Nichols, one son Virgil Willis Nichols Jr. and one grandson

Gary Pelton.

Survivors are two daughters: Bonnie L. Kashner of Gurdon and Dovie R.

Bobbi Carothers of Glen Rock, Pa.; three grandchildren, Rhonda Michialsen of Birmingham, Ala., Terry F. Sparks and Tamula L. Windham, both of Gurdon; and eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at Welch Funeral Home with Rev. Martin Jones officiating. Interment was in Bethlehem Cemetery at Gurdon.

Pallbearers were Terry Sparks, Tommy Potter, Gregory Bledsoe, Kenneth Kashner, Richard Dick Carothers, John Peter Jung, Daniel Windham.
