Phillip WestmorelandPublished Wednesday, December 28, 2005 in the Nevada County PicayuneMr. Phillip A. Westmoreland, 70, of Prescott, died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at Dubius Hospital in Texarkana, Texas. He was born on March 21, 1935, in Caney to Ulysses Grant and Bertha Lee White Westmoreland. He was a merchant and a member of Central Baptist Church in Prescott. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Russell Westmoreland and two brothers and one sister. His survivors include: five sons, Sam N. Westmoreland and Elaine of Gurdon, Phil Westmoreland, Jr. and Ginger of Maumelle, Terry Miles Westmoreland and Rosie of Springdale, Grant Westmoreland of Sheridan and Shane Westmoreland and Ursula of Conway; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and one special friend, Patricia Stewart of Prescott. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday, December 23, 2005, at Central Baptist Church in Prescott, with Rev. Jerry G. Westmoreland and Rev. Perry Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Westmoreland Cemetery in Caney. Arrangements by Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. Family received friends Thursday, December 22, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Regional Organ Recovery Agency (ARORA, 1100 North University, Ste. 200, Little Rock, Ark. 72201).
