The temperatures ranged from a high of 79 in Prescott, and 82 in Cale, to a low of 26 in Prescott and 27 in Cale. For the most part, November was a dry month, though the area did receive 2.47 inches of rain. Of course most of the rain fell on Nov. 27, with 1.52 inches hit the ground. The only other significant amounts of rain occurred on Nov. 13, with 0.13 inch, and Nov. 26, with 0.35 inch. According to Phillip McAdams, Prescotts weather watcher, the first frost of the season occurred the morning of Nov. 17. Davis Benton, Cale meteorologist, said the south part of Nevada County received 1.30 inches of rain, making it 31.80 inches below normal for the year. Benton agreed with McAdams on the date of the first killing frost4, saying it was on Nov. 17. The average daily high, McAdams said, was 68 degrees, while the average daily low was 43 degrees.
