Residents levy complaints against PPD officerBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, November 30, 2005 in the Nevada County Picayune A group of resident voiced complaints about a member of the Prescott Police Department. The group voiced these concerns at the Prescott City Council at its November meeting. May Young got things started saying shes concerned about acting police chief Morris Irvin. According to her, he has been involved in unlawful activities and taking the law into his own hands. I dont feel safe for my kids or myself, she said. Im ready to get an attorney and sue the city for harassment. Young said Irvin has accused her son of things and has a problem with her boy. Sharon Aldridge claimed Irvin is friends with a local businessman who allegedly attempted to rape a minor female. She said the businessman, who has not been charged with any crime to date, got three teenage girls drunk and tried to rape one of them. We ask you to take a look at Irvin and see what hes done, Young said. Another complaint stated some property had been damaged and the woman who damaged it was given two weeks to pay for it. However, the victim was called on the job by the woman and cursed out because Irvin allegedly said the victim had asked him to arrest the perpetrator. Wanda Wilson said when her son was a minor he was taken into custody concerning an incident he was reportedly involved in. Her complaint was not being allowed to be with her son when he was questioned, and the boy coming out of the session frightened. She claimed the boy was also locked in a cell with adult males. It was asked statements presented to the Council be placed in Irvins personnel file. Prescott Mayor Howard Taylor said the city would look into the allegations. The Council went into executive session for Irvins statement on the allegations. Once the session ended, no action was taken, but Taylor and city attorney Glenn Vasser will look into the situation. It was stated, though, the Arkansas State Police is handling the investigation into the incidents the residents were involved in, or concerned about.
