James Easterling

James Pappy Easterling, 85, of Texarkana, Ark., died Tuesday, October 25, 2005, at his residence.

He was born December 15, 1919, in Nevada County.

Mr. Easterling was a retired feed lot operator for D&W Cattle Pens, a member of the Springlake Baptist Church and a member of The Miller-Bowie County Farmers Association.

He was preceded in death by a son, J.C. Easterling.

He is survived by his wife, Nadine Easterling of Texarkana, Ark.; one daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Sammy Hughes of Texarkana, Ark.; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Easterling of Nash, Texas; four grandsons and their wives, Larry and Debra Hughes, Brian and Shelly Hughes, Jeff and Cindy Easterling, and Doug and Linda Easterling; one great-grandchild, one great-great-grandchild and a number of other relatives.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2005, at Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Stamps, with Rev. Micah Mauldin officiating with burial in Corinth Cemetery at Bodcaw under the direction of Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.

Visitation was from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Smith Funeral Home in Stamps.
