Willia McClain

Willie Maxine (Derrick) McClain, 99, of Prescott, died October 23, 2005.

She was born July 27, 1906, in Farmersville, Texas. She had one brother Tillman who preceded her in death. She married Hobert McClain in Albany, Texas, in 1926. They lived in Knott and Big Spring, Texas, most of their lives until they moved to Prescott in 1977. Mr. McClain passed away in 1978.

Hobert and Willie McClain have three children, a son Michael McClain and wife Cindy of Alvin, Texas; two daughters, Billie Ridling and Frances Swift of Prescott; her sons-in-law, Fred Ridling and Jim Swift also preceded her in death. The children remember their parents as hard working people who loved them very much.

Mrs. McClain managed the country family grocery store in Knott, Texas, for many years and was called Mrs. Mc by friends and customers. She was also known as Mrs. Mo, MeMaw, and Granny. She also worked many years after moving to Prescott.

Mrs. McClain also has nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, October 26, 2005, at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Burial was at Liberty Cemetery. Arrangements by Shackelford Funeral Home.
