Milton Stokes

Mr. Milton Stokes, 84, of Prescott, died Friday, October 21, 2005, at his home.

He was born on March 12, 1921, in Bluff Springs, to Thomas Grady and Cora Lee Ellis Stokes. He was retired from the Prescott Hardware Store and Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott. He was a deacon and member of Central Baptist Church in Prescott. He was an Army Veteran of World War II and had a great love for gardening.

He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Stokes, who died in 1997.

His survivors include his wife of 63 years, Ruth Ingram Stokes of Prescott; one daughter-in-law, Safronia Martin of Mountain Home; one brother, Robert Stokes of Lucedale, Miss.; one sister, Valeria OKeefe of Rosston; Two grandchildren, Shannon Stokes and Kristy of Jonesboro and Russell Stokes and Krisitie of Abilene, Texas; three great grandchildren, Zoie and Ellie Stokes of Jonesboro and Jackson Robert Stokes of Abilene.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2005, at Central Baptist Church in Prescott with Rev. Perry Johnson officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Prescott.

Family received friends Saturday, October 22, 2005, from 6-8 p.m. at Brazzel/Cornish Funeral Home in Prescott.
