Prescott had its own version of the White Sox call Friday night against Fountain Lake.

This didnt help the fact the Cobras spoiled Prescotts homecoming with a 33-0 win.

The call came late in the third quarter when Fountain Lake had the ball at the Prescott 44. Quarterback Adam Bleifus threw the ball to Peter Gray. The catch itself was questionable, but there was no doubt Gray was down on both knees at the time. However, there was no call by the official, Gray got up and scampered in for a touchdown, which was allowed to stand.

So much for homecoming.

The Wolves played a tough first half of football, keeping the Cobras out of scoring position for most of the first two periods.

The game began with Prescott receiving the kick and setting up shop at the Wolf 38. The Wolves got to midfield before being forced to punt.

Daniel Price fumbled the boot, but managed to recover the loose ball at the Cobra 30, where it was three and out for the visitors.

Once again, Prescott began on its 38, ran three plays and punted, this time to the Fountain Lake 24.

This is how the first 12 minutes of the game went. Neither offense being able to move the ball consistently against the other defense.

Period one came to an end with Fountain Lake being flagged for an illegal block and setting up to punt.

The ball rolled dead at the Wolf 23 to start the second quarter.

Right off the bat Ben Smith was sacked, and the Wolves were forced to punt after three offensive snaps. The ball made it to the Cobra 47, giving Fountain Lake excellent field position.

This also set up the Cobras first touchdown of the night. Fountain Lake marched the 53 yards in 11 plays, with Bleifus going in on a quarterback sneak from the two. The two-point conversion made it 8-0.

For most of the remainder of the half it was a back and forth game. As time wound down, though, the Cobras started moving, getting to the Prescott six before Bleifus was intercepted by Deon Accor in the end zone.

Smith took a knee to end the period.

Fountain Lake opened the second half with possession, starting at the Cobra 26.

The Cobras ran five plays before punting to the Wolf 16. However, Prescotts offense still hadnt found its stride and was out in three snaps.

The punt was fielded by Gray at the Prescott 38 and returned for Fountain Lakes second touchdown of the night. The try for two was no good, but the Cobras were up 14-0 with 8:05 showing.

Prescott started at its 41, only to see Smith picked off by Jason Urgartechea at the Wolf 43, returning the pick to the 39.

However, the Cobras were unable to capitalize on the turnover and gave the ball back to Prescott four plays later. Still, though, the Wolf offense was missing as Prescott was forced to punt to the Cobra 22 with 2:22 showing.

This is where the White Sox call came into play, effectively putting the game out of reach for the Wolves. The point after made it 21-0.

The ensuing kick went out of bounds, resulting in a delay of game call against the Cobras. The next kick was returned to the Prescott 40.

Again, though, the Wolves went nowhere, but went for a first down on fourth and five. Smith missed connection with Micah McCoy, giving Fountain Lake the ball on downs as the third quarter came to an end.

Seven plays later, the Cobras were again in the Prescott end zone, making it 27-0, as the point after was no good.

Starting at the Prescott 35, the Wolves moved to the 40 before punting to the Cobra 38.

Here Fountain Lakes coaching staff showed a lack of class as the starters were still in, though there was 8:45 left in the game, and Prescott had yet to threaten to score.

Bleifus went for it all, finding a wide open Green for a 62-yard touchdown. The point after was wide, making it 33-0.

At this point, both teams substituted heavily, with neither able to move the ball effectively.

The loss puts the Wolves at 1-6 overall and 1-3 in 7AAA action. While it is theoretically possible for Prescott to get into the playoffs, it would be extremely difficult as the Wolves must beat Mena and Lafayette County, ending the season with a trip to Ashdown.

Prescott will play its final home game of the season Friday night as the Wolves entertain the Mena Bearcats. Kickoff is set for 7:30.
