Christmas ornaments in; Costume constes is setBY JOHN MILLERPublished Wednesday, October 19, 2005 in the Nevada County Picayune The fourth edition of the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Countys Christmas ornaments are available. This years ornament depicts the old Prescott High School building, and is available for $10. A stand can be purchased separately for an additional $2.50. According to a release from the Chamber, the goal is to create a series of tree ornaments depicting a new theme each year. By doing this, the Chambers idea is to preserve a different aspect of Prescott. The old high school building was originally constructed in 1910 and torn down in 1976. The ornament is a pearlescent white. The ornaments are produced on a limited basis and sold first come, first serve. Mary Godwin, executive director of the Chamber, said the ornaments make perfect gifts for friends and family members who have moved out of the area. For more information call the Chamber at 887-2101. In addition, its time for the annual Chamber Halloween Costume Contest. The contest will be judged Monday, Oct. 31, throughout the day. Godwin said there will be two categories to be judged, group and individual. The judges will come to the entrants place of business to do the judging. The top three finishers in each category will be given cash prizes. The prizes are $25 for first place, $15 for second and $10 for third. There is no cost to enter, but all entries must be in by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28. Entering can be done by calling the Chamber at 887-2101.
