Gurdon man in jail for sexual assaultPublished Wednesday, October 12, 2005 in the Gurdon TimesEli Bryant, 20, of Gurdon has been charged with sexual assault, a Class Y felony, in connection with an incident where he allegedly "touched and grabbed a teenage girl." Gurdon Marshal Don Childres said Bryant was taken to the Clark County Jail early this week, where he awaited a court date concerning an incident which happened at the Gurdon Sonic after midnight on "Friday night," early Saturday morning, Sept. 24. Gurdon Police Officer Gary Marshall said a 17-year-old Gurdon girl and an adult came to the Gurdon Police Department and reported the incident at approximately 1:30 a.m. that Saturday morning. "They talked to me and also to a Clark County deputy sheriff," Marshall said. Childres said he evaluated the information the next morning and began an investigation, which was headed up by the Clark County Sheriffs Department Criminal Investigation Department (CID). "Evidence was gathered and a felony warrant was secured," Childres said. "It was reported that Bryant knew this girl, he got into the car with her at Sonic and allegedly began his assault from the passengers side, as she sat behind the wheel."
