Gerald Smithpeters

Gerald Elton Smithpeters, 62, of Ashdown, Arkansas, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, September 27, 2005.

Mr. Smithpeters was born on July 10, 1943. He served in the United States Army as a military policeman in the early 1960s.

He was a retired volunteer fireman, and had recently retired from the Texarkana Water Utilities and was a member of the Central Baptist Church of Ashdown.

Mr. Smithpeters was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Smithpeters.

Mr. Smithpeters is survived by his wife, Rebecca Smithpeters; two sons, Brad and Jon Smithpeters of Ashdown; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary "Libby" and Tim Dawn of Camden; his mother, Elsie Smithpeters of Arkadelphia; a brother and sister-in-law, Don and Wanda Smithpeters of Gurdon; a sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Jimmy Hughes of Gurdon; two grandchildren, Jada and Timothy Dawn; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Don and Margaret Cater of Clarksville; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2005, at the Central Baptist Church in Ashdown, with the Rev. Tommy Guthrie officiating.

Interment was at Ashdown Memorial Gardens in Ashdown. Services were under the direction of Madden Funeral Home. The family received friends be at the funeral home from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005.
