Benjamin CaglePublished Wednesday, September 14, 2005 in the Nevada County PicayuneBenjamin L. Cagle was born on January 13, 1945, in Prescott to Freeman and Ora Calge. Ben left this world to be with his Lord on August 27, 2005, after losing a long battle with cancer. Ben was loved very much and will be always in our hearts. We look forward to being with him and our Lord Jesus Christ in Heaven. Ben graduated from Little Rock Central High School in 1963. The same year he joined the United States Navy. Upon being discharged from the Navy in 1967, he attended the University of Central Arkansas, graduating in 1970. In 1971 he entered the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a special agent, serving until he retired in 1996. Ben served his country with the FBI in Kentucky, Puerto Rico, Guam, and Missouri. He still worked part-time for the agency at the time of his death. Besides leaving dozens of good friends, he is survived by his wife of 37 years, Reta; two sons, B.J. of Springfield, Mo., and Andrew and his wife Lindsey, also Springfield; one daughter, Wendy of Orlando, Fla.; two sisters, Carole Sanderson of North Charleston, S.C. and Judy Tyra of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Iris, Aaron, and Sidney. He was a member and faithfully served as a deacon at South Haven Baptist Church in Springfield for many years. Visitation was from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, August 31, in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. Funeral services were at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 1, in South Haven Baptist Church with Dr. J.R. Duncan officiating. Burial was with full military honors in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Alliance for Research on Depression.
