Therell be something for everyone at the 69th Annual Nevada County Fair.

This years fair and rodeo will be held Aug. 27 through Sept. 4 at the Nevada County Fairgrounds.

Rebecca Holley, president of the Nevada County Fair Association, said Wendell Cox will be taking care of the rodeo this year. The rodeo is sanctioned by the Southwest Arkansas High School Rodeo Association and accepts contestants up to age 18.

The ages for contestants will break down in different groups, with the senior class being those 15-18. The junior group will be cowboys 11-14, with those under 11 being in the pee wee division. The rodeo will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the rodeo arena.

Holley said anyone planning to be in the rodeo must preregister no later than Aug. 25. Registration can be done on-line by going to www.swarshra.com.

Turning to the topic of the livestock show and premium sale, Holley said this years event should be one of the biggest ever. Part of the reason is because students from the Emmet Future Farmers of America club will be bringing animals to show.

Last year, the arena was covered in wood shavings to help keep the dust down. These shavings were provided by Ward Wood for both the livestock show and sale.

In the category of school art, crafts and photography, items can only be entered Friday, Aug. 26, from 2-4 p.m. Entries will not be accepted at any other time.

There will be gospel singing Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Potlatch Building, while the educational and commercial booths will be set up in the Stewart Building from 3-5 on Aug. 28.

The Monday of the fair kicks off with the annual Queens Coffee at the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce office at 10 a.m. From 3-6 p.m. items may be entered in arts, crafts, photography (non-school entries only), baked goods, quilts, household articles, food preservation, fall gardens, field crops and furniture. All poultry and rabbits will be entered at this time as well.

On Tuesday, items can be entered in the aforementioned categories, except for poultry and rabbits. The official judging of the flower show exhibit will be done at noon, with livestock entered from 12-5 p.m. This is for cattle, swine and sheep.

The midway opens at 5 oclock, with the parade kicking off at 6 p.m. The talent show is scheduled for 7:30.

Wednesday is the rain date for the parade, with the exhibit buildings and carnival opening at 3 p.m. The livestock show will be held at 5 oclock.

On Thursday, Sept. 1, the midway gets things started by opening at 3 p.m. with the exhibit buildings opening at 5. The meal for the Livestock Premium Sale will be held at 5:30 p.m., with the first round of the fair pageants starting at 6 p.m. This will include the baby miss, tiny miss, little miss and petite miss divisions. The livestock sale will start at 6:30.

Friday has the midway and exhibit buildings as the main attraction, as football season kicks off with Prescott on the road to Gurdon.

The midway will open at 10 a.m. Saturday, with the exhibit buildings opening at 5 p.m. The second round of the fair queen pageants will start at 6 oclock. This will include the young miss, junior miss, teen miss and fair queen divisions. Lisa McClure is the pageant director this year.
