W. T. Wilson

W.T. Wilson, 94, of Coffeyville, Kansas passed away early Saturday morning, Aug. 6, 2005, at the Medicalodge in Coffeyville.

He was born on Aug. 26, 1910, in Hempstead County, Arkansas to Nathaniel Wilson and Jannie (Armstrong) Wilson.

W.T. married Ona King in 1936 at Gurdon, Arkansas. She preceded him in death.

W.T. was employed with the Missouri Pacific railroad for more than 41 years., serving as a cook and union steward, as well as other positions. He was an active member of the Bethel AME Church for more than 60 years, serving as a deacon. He loved to work in his garden and cook. Family was an important part of his life. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Survivors include: two sons, Larry Lawrence King and Herbert Maceo Hayes; three brothers, Jesse L. Wilson and wife, Hazel, of Fort Worth, Texas, Ray Wilson and wife, Mary, of St. Louis, Mo., and Fred Wilson and wife, Georgia, of Victorville, Calif.; one sister, Verda Johnson of Los Angeles, Calif.; four grandchildren, Kimberly Ingersoll, Michele Young, Lawrence Edward King and Rodney Hayes; five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by: one son, four sisters, two brothers and one grandson.

Calling time was Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at the Bethel A.M.E. Church in Coffeyville with the Rev. Sudie White officiating.

Burial was 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, in the Rose Hill Cemetery near Gurdon, Arkansas.

Memorials may be given to the Bethel AME Church c/o Penwell-Gabel-Ford-Wulf-Bruns Chapel in Coffeyville.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Penwell-Gabel Ford-Wulf Bruns Funeral Home in Coffeyville.
