Willis Baker

Willis Earl Baker, 78, of Daingerfield, Texas, died Sunday, July 31, 2005, in a Longview, Texas, nursing home.

Mr. Baker was born April 17, 1927, in Boughton. He was a contractor, a member of the American Legion, a Methodist and an Army and Air Force veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Baker of Daingerfield; one son and daughter-in-law, Willis Joel and Dora Baker of Marshall, Texas; one daughter, Susan Lynn Lavender of Twin Falls, Idaho; three stepdaughters and one stepson-in-law, Debra Jean and George Thomas Myrick Jr. of Vista, Calif., Linda Susan Benson of Lake Tahoe, Calif., and Cathryn Ann Scarborough of San Francisco; one sister, Joann Worth of Hope; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services were 2 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church with the Revs. Bluford Weifkel and Ralph Hale officiating. Burial was held in Hughes Springs Cemetery under direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home.
