A Gurdon couple faces class C felony charges for possession with intent to deliver marijuana, after their home was raided around 10 a.m. Friday, July 29.

Ronnie Deaton, 47, and Keetha Marie Eckert, 41, of Highway 67 South, were visited by officers from the 9th District Drug Task Force, the Clark County Sheriff's Department and the Gurdon Police Department.

Gurdon City Marshal Don Childres, was present for the drug raid, and said about a half-a-pound of marijuana was confiscated that morning from the Deaton/Eckert home at the lower end of the pond near the Gurdon City Park.

The street value of the marijuanawas reported to be between $800 and $1,000.

The couple was also in possession of $10,500 cash, which was confiscated from the residence.

Childres said law enforcement agents confiscated a newer model, red, Chevrolet Camero, which is believed to have been used in delivering the marijuana.

"Deaton and Eckert were both taken to the Clark County Jail, where they were held on a $100,000 bond each.

Childres said the couple has been under investigation for some time, but "it took a while to get somebody lined out to buy some marijuana from them."

"When charges involve selling and possession, the crime is a class C felony," he added. "This bust was a cooperative effort between the three law enforcement departments."
