HOPE 12

Published Wednesday, March 24, 1999 in the Nevada County Picayune

PRESCOTT 0 The Wolves found traveling to Hope to be an unpleasant experience as the Bobcats blanked Prescott 12-0 in a game called after four and a half innings because of the 10-run rule.

Arterbury and Turner combined for a no-hitter for the 'Cats, though they did walk three. The two also fanned 11 Wolves.

Prescott went down in order in the first two innings, while the 'Cats scored four times on three hits and a walk in the first, adding two more in the second on three hits.

Inning three was scoreless, but the 'Cats exploded for six in the top of the fourth to make it 12-0.

Hope sent 11 batters to the plate in the game, with them recording five hits, a walk and scoring two runs on an error.

The Wolves did threaten in the third as walks put runners at first and second. However, the next batter went down on strikes, followed by a pop out to the catcher to end the inning.

Prescott threatened again in the fifth, starting with a lead-off walk, which was erased on a fielder's choice. A ground out and K ended the game.

Yates, 1-3, was the losing pitcher.
