The Clark County Prosecutor's Office is sponsoring a limited amnesty for hot check writers from July 1-31.

If a person believes they have written a hot check before July 1, they should call Darlene Simpson at the prosecutor's office: (870) 246-3775.

The amnesty offer is for Clark County residents only. Failure to take advantage of the proposal will result in all available warrants being served by law enforcement and could result in felony charges.

In other police related business, the Gurdon Police Department arrested Sam William Bell, 26, of Gurdon, for causing a disturbance at South Second Street, on July 2, 2005.

Marshal Don Childres said GPD responded to the disturbance call. When police arrived, there were several people in the yard.

Two women stated that Bell had attacked them, punching them in the head and face.

Bell was still on the property when police arrived. He was arrested for two counts of domestic battery and public drunkenness. He also had warrants from of Clark and Nevada Counties for other charges.

Childres said Bell was taken to the Clark County Sheriff's Office jail.
