Betty Sonnier

Mrs. Betty Hill Sonnier, 59, of St. Martinville, La., formerly of Hamburg, died Wednesday, July 8, 2005, at her residence.

Mrs. Sonnier was a native of Hamburg and a resident of St. Martinville, Louisiana for the past 40 years.

She graduated from the Louisiana Technical College in 2000 as an LPN and worked at Maison Teche Nursing Home, HIS South Nursing Home, Beverly Healthcare Center and the Lahasky Family Clinic in Erath. She was a member of the Sardis Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, E.A. Hill, in 1998.

She is survived by her husband of 15 years, John L. Sonnier Sr. of St. Martinville, La. a son, Mitchell "Mitch" Nolan and wife, Tonya, of Gurdon; her mother, Gladys Swan; a sister, Peggy Kicrease, both of Hamburg; a brother, James Hill and wife, Beverly, of Gulfport, Miss.; three stepchildren, John Sonnier Jr. and wife, Sue, and Judy Douet, all of St. Martinville and Linda S. Banchard and husband, Kenneth, of Brusly, Louisiana, 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services and interment were 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2005, at the Trafigar Cemetery with the Rev. E.W. Ricks officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg.
