Ares League elects offiersPublished Wednesday, June 22, 2005 in the Nevada County PicayuneNew officers were selected at the June meeting of the Artesian Arts League. Those present returned Judy Duke to the office of president, with Janice Hill being named vice president. Barbara Lowdermilk will be the secretary/treasurer, while John Miller is the reporter. At large Board members are Peggy Lloyd, Catherine Crain and Phillip McAdams. The league is also getting its membership drive underway. Membership is $20 per year. There are currently 25-30 members, but the Board would like to see more people involved. Lloyd suggested making the garden tour an annual event and trying to get other civic groups involved. She said a luncheon could be held at one of the homes, and the tour could be done in April instead of May. It was done in May this year as part of National Heritage Month. Hill suggested a tea party instead of a luncheon during the tour. There was also discussion on setting up a reading by former resident Dan Marsh, who has a new book, Klandestined on the market. Lowdermilk said books could be pre-sold at the reading, but the event needs to be publicized. An events committee was also formed to schedule things for the league throughout the year. The committee consists of Penny Richards, Melv Morman, Patsy Haneline and Crain. Hill brought up the possibility of a Tour of Homes for the Christmas season as a potential fund raiser for the league. She said the league could charge $5 per person with the tour being done on either a Tuesday or Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. Search | Nevada County Picayune by date | Gurdon Times by date |
