Traffic Stop Leads To Drug Arrests

Two people were arrested on drug charges Thursday, March 18.

According to Heb Sorrells, public information officer with the Nevada County Sheriff's Office, Isaac Colbert, 83, and Andrea Meadows, 34, were picked up on drug charges.

At 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 18, Sorrells said, a warrant was issued for Colbert. This was in connection with an investigation by the NCSO, Prescott Police Department and Arkansas State Police, concerning drug activity at the Colbert residence.

When officers drove by his home, they saw he wasn't home. About 6:50 p.m., Colbert's car was spotted heading North on U.S. Highway 371 coming into Prescott. He was stopped on the Washington Road, with officers from all agencies participating involved.

A search of the vehicle turned up several off-white rock like substances believed to be crack cocaine.

Meadows was a passenger in Colbert's vehicle and was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia at the scene.

Officers went to Colbert's home and searched the residence, finding more of the substance believed to be crack, along with a handgun.

Meadows was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation from an earlier drug-related arrest. No bond was set in her case.

Colbert was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, certain person in possession of a firearm and simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. He is being held on $100,000 bond.
