William Sanford

William "Sonny" Sanford, 71, of Arkadelphia, died on Sunday, May 29, 2005, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Hot Springs.

Sonny was a retired hardwood lumber inspector for Anthony Timberlands, a member of Beech Street Baptist Church in Gurdon, a Navy veteran of the Korean War, and also an ordained minister and deacon.

Survivors include: his devoted wife of 49 years, Helen Norton Sanford; a son, Mark Sanford and wife, Beverly, of Gurdon; a daughter, Sharon Ard and husband, Robert, of El Dorado; and grandchildren, Kayla and Jordan Sanford.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, William Grady and Eunice McKinney Sanford, and sister, Dorothy Horsley.

Services were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2005, at Beech Street Baptist Church with Brother Rick Pyron officiating.

Interment was in the Copeland Ridge Cemetery, with visitation Tuesday evening, between 6-8 p.m., at Horne Funeral Home at Gurdon.
