Robert SmithPublished Wednesday, May 25, 2005 in the Gurdon TimesRobert Smith, 68, of Arkadelphia, died on Friday, April 8, 2005. He was born June 26, 1936, to the late Bill and Flora Roberts Smith. Robert was retired from Anthony Timberland at Beirne and preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Smith. Survivors are, his wife: Shirley Phillips Smith; three sons, Robert Smith Jr. and his wife, Tonia; Daniel R. Smith and Troy D. Smith; three daughters, Belinda Stanley and her husband, Tommy; Mary Ann Sanders and her husband, David; Teresa Ellis and her husband, Bo, all of Clark County; two brothers, Dan Smith of Hobbs, New Mexico, and Billy Smith of Malvern; one sister, Rita Sue Beck of Hot Springs; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Ruggles-Wilcox Chapel with Brother Dwayne White officiating. Interment was at Harts Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers were to be his grandsons, Nic R. Smith, Brandon Sanders, Cody R. Smith, Jeremiah Burtness, Christopher Burtness and Thomas Ellis. Visitation was at noon on Monday, April 11, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Harts Chapel Cemetery Fund.
