Ruthie Simms

Sister Ruthie L. Gulley Sims, 59, of Prescott, died May 10, 2005, at her home in Prescott.

She was born February 8, 1946, in Chidester, to the late Elder Virgil and Thelma Gulley.

At an early age she joined Rocky Hill Church of God in Christ and later joined Union Grove Baptist Church where she served as a faithful member.

She was united in marriage to Dennis Lee Sims, Sr. and to this union six children were born. She leaves to cherish her memories 11 children; Shirly McGill (Walter), Dennis Sims, Jr., Melissa Harris (Terry), Cora Sims (Cliff), Sandra Drapper (Curley), Ruthie Ingram (Tony), Carolyn Sims (Richard), Remona Sims, Latina Sims, and Marvin Sims, all of Prescott, and Marcus Gulley (Stephanie) of Camden, and a special friend, Lee Richardson.

She also leaves to cherish her memories, three sisters, Vinnie Barker and Thelma Scott, both of Camden and Nell Dean Gulley of Pompano Beach, Fla.; four brothers, Tony Gulley (Valerie), Norman Gulley (Barbara) of Prescott, Donnie Gulley (Bertha), and Rev. Delta Ray Gulley, Sr. (Emma) of Chidester; 27 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a host of relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were three sisters, Martha June, Lesser Lee, and Lorraine Cheatam; two brothers, Joe and Zeebedee Gulley.

Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2005, at Union Grove Baptist Church with burial in Union Grove Cemetery in Bluff City. To sign the online-guest register visit www.proctorfuneralhome.com. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
