Flozell Hawthrone

Flozell Hawthrone, 66, of Gurdon, Arkansas, went from labor to reward on Thursday, April 14, 2005, at Baptist Health Medical Center, Arkadelphia.

She was born on March 10, 1939, at Smithton to Paul and Estella Coleman Thomas in Smithton, Arkansas.

She was educated at Bell High School in Gurdon, Arkansas.

She accepted Christ at a tent revival held in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, in 1971 conducted by Saint Dewitt Hill.

She joined First Memorial Church of God in Christ under the late Bishop R.B. Hatley. She served as Sunday School Superintendent, where she served faithfully. She was also the church treasurer, deaconess. She was a songist to her heart. When she sang, souls were lifted and souls were saved, through her singing and her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Everlean Gatlin, and one brother, Henry Gills.

Survivors are her husband, George "Pap" Hawthrone, six sons; Paul Gatlin, Ricky Williams, George Hawthrone Jr.; Stacy Hawthrone, Tracy Hawthrone, Gavin Hawthrone; two daughters, Beverly Glenn and Teny Beaty; four sisters, Ozell Wilson, Jan Garry, Mattie Buckner, Barbara Hamilton; two brothers, Aaron James and Dewayne Harvell; one uncle, Carl Stafford; one aunt, Francis Stafford; 22 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral was Wednesday, April 20, 2005, at the Mt. Canaan Baptist Church with the Elder Chester Mitchell Sr. officiating. Burial was in Greenville Cemetery, under the direction of Williams Funeral Home.
